What does the GREEN LIGHT mean? Whether they're at home, work, or at play, these volunteers respond to the fire station without delay. They do this 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so that they may aid and protect their fellow citizens.Firefighters respond to the fire station using their own private vehicles. Once at the station, they "gear up" and respond to the emergency in a designated emergency fire truck or emergency first responce vehicle.. The Ministry of Transportation has authorized the use of green flashing lights by Firefighters in their private vehicles. The green flashing light identifies that the person driving their private vehicle is a Volunteer Firefighter who needs to get to the fire station as quickly and safely as possible. Please help us to help you! We may be responding to your house! What do I do when I see a flashing green light in a vehicle? As a courtesy and only when it is safe to do so, please yield the right of way to the firefighter. For example, pulling to the right while on a roadway or into a parking lot will make it easier for the firefighter to respond to the station while driving their private vehicle. Please be aware that there may be many firefighters responding at the same time. Take the time to look and ensure that no other firefighters are in the near vicinity. Through effective teamwork and community awareness, we can continue to make your community a safer community! We thank you for your co-operation.
