Janice is a grad of Atlantic School of Theology, and was ordained by Maritime Conference of the United Church of Canada in 2012. Her joy at ministering with and among the communities of Western Manitoulin is made evident through her creative energy and ready laughter!
Janice believes that God – Creator, Child, and Spirit – is revealed to God’s contemporary people at the intersection of ancient Biblical stories and their own lived experience. Pointing to that intersection is one of the intentions of public worship, and so Janice takes great care – and great joy! – in preparing weekly liturgies that incorporate creative story-telling, heart-felt praying, and spirited music-making. Through the heart, head, hand, and voice of the worshipping community, then, the Spirit makes herself known, inspiring unique expressions of praise and discipleship.
New Brunswick-born and Nova Scotia-raised, Janice is thrilled to now call the communities of western Manitoulin Island her home. Since their arrival in the summer of 2013, Janice and her husband, Colin, have enjoyed island living at its best, experiencing several “firsts”: Fish Fry dinners, euchre parties, and ballroom dance lessons. They’ve been a little less enthused about participating in other island traditions, like spending hours on end in ice fishing huts and deer stands! All in due time, as they say, all in due time…
