Do's and Don'ts of Web Page Design
Do's
-
plan ahead by deciding what will be on your website, and how it will be
organized
-
use a common font
-
add images, background colours
-
make sure that your first page loads in under 15 seconds; statistics show
that users won't wait longer than that length of time and after 20 seconds,
you have lost half of your audience
Don't
-
use unique and interesting fonts; if the computer where the Web Page
is being viewed does not have this font, it will compensate by using an
alternative font, and may distort the formating of your page
-
use images with a large file size; the page will take too long to
download, and the user may get discouraged, and give up
-
use extremely bright colours; although they may be appealing to get
someone's attention, the page may become too difficult to read
