WHAT IS A CERTIFIED GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

A Certified General Accountant is a professional accountant who has earned the designation CGA from their provincial and national associations.

The Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario is an Association of professional accountants who meet the Association's rigorous requirements of professional competence, are bound to a uniform standard of conduct, and are entitled under acts of both the Parliament of Canada and the legislature of the Provinice of Ontario, to the designation CGA.

The mission of the Associaiton is to serve the interests of its members and the public through:

  • admission criteria that demand the highest possible prevailing standards of accounting competence and ethical behaviour;
  • programs that maintain member's competence throughout their careers;
  • leadership in the advancement and development of the accounting profession; and
  • application of member expertise to relevant public issues.
