Steel Sculpture by Canadian Sculptor Hilary Clark Cole

I have created a number of sculptures over the years, both indoor and outdoor pieces, which are definitely caricatures. They are not to be confused with the studies of such pieces as the Moose, the Chestnut Filly, the Grizzly Bears, or the Muskox.

However, as any cartoonist will tell you, in order to make a subject humorous, one must study the subject and know it well.

Ostriches are humorous to begin with, so it was a question of proportion and stance that brought him to fruition. He is mild steel and heavy-walled pipe, with stainless steel eyes and stainless steel in the tail to give him his characteristic white feathers there. The real mallard in the photo is impressed.
