Emsdale Agricultural Society News

THANK YOU to all our volunteers & sponsors for helping make the 2008 Fall Fair the success it was.

We had a great day at the Fair with almost 900 adults (plus children) coming through the gates.  Both Junior & Senior exhibitors were up again this year and the exhibits showed a great variety of talents from the community. It was a joy to walk through the hall and look at all the Exhibits. Please see the list of the Emsdale Agricultural Society 2008 Trophy Winners, below.

We had some new entertainers “The Fiddleheads” with young fiddlers and we had an exhibit on Grains which was provided by the Northern Ontario Agri-Food Education & Marketing Inc. which was a great success.

For the first time in a few years we had a cattle display which everyone enjoyed – the sound of mooing was a wonderful background sound for the fair. We also had an oxen team which was a reminder of the way things used to be on the farm.

Thanks to all our sponsors, we had lots of prizes for the children's events.  We had some new events for the children this year which included midway games with lots of prizes, goat milking, “rubber glove udder”- cow milking with Mad Science, Smartie Bingo, new youth horse classes and new bounce rides. Despite the rain, we had lots of good feed back from visitors.

It was a great Fair and it made all the preparation, planning and hard work well worth the effort. We hope to see everyone again next year.
