The North Bay Heritage Festival and Airshow to be held within a 10NM radius (5NM if Class F airspace approved) of N46.18 W79.27 (Lee Park Waterfront, North Bay, Ontario) to a maximum of 15,000 ASL from 1745 to 2130Z on Saturday, August 2, 2003 and Sunday, August 3, 2003.

There will be a fly-by (1 CF 18 and 1 Harvard) at the Opening Ceremonies between 2245 - 2345Z.

Military breaks at Jack Garland Airport are not normally authorized. IF a break is operationally necessary, prior ATC approval is required.

All pilots are required to have approach plates for all runways at Jack Garland Airport and are responsible for ensuring that the data they will be using is validated by checking with current NOTAMS, FSS, Towers, etc.

Important ATC Notices

  • The Air Boss has final word on show day procedures.
  • Finalized frequency cards will be distributed at the morning briefings.
  • Once airborne, you must be in contact with someone at all times - either Boss Control, or North Bay
        Radio.
  • Civilian acts must supply their maneuver package for this show, and we request that you forward this as
        early as possible to allow for Transport Canada approval.
  • ATC Show Procedures

    1. Aircraft are handed off on take-off by North Bay Radio to Boss portable tower immediately north of Show centre.
    2. Boss Control will confirm your hold area, which may be different from the high-speed aircraft.
    3. You decide when to leave the hold in order to arrive at center stage at the time published in the Flight Schedule.
    4. On conclusion of your performance, Boss passes you back to North Bay Radio, the normal traffic flow for landing at Jack Garland Airport

    The following NOTAM will be issued

    Air Show 10 NM RADIUS OF 4618N 7927W (LEE PARK, NORTH BAY WATERFRONT) EXCLUDING THE APPROACH AREAS TO RUNWAYS 26 AND 18.
    3.5 NM SW OF NORTH BAY AIRPORT MAX ALT 15,000 FEET MSL
    NON-PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUESTED TO REMAIN CLEAR.

    1. During the airshow, jets and larger aircraft will hold over Callander Bay between 4,000 and 5,000 ASL and smaller aircraft will hold over West End of Trout Lake between 3,000 and 4,000 ASL.
    2. Punch ups will be coordinated by the air boss, 15 minutes prior to this climb, directly with Toronto ATC - North Bay Supervisor at 905-676-4597 (alternate number: Shift Manager 905-676-4509)
    3. If unable to contact ATC directly, Air Boss will contact North Bay Radio and ask them to contact Toronto ATC on the Hot Line for punch-up approval.

    The North Bay Heritage Festival & Grant Forest Products Air Show takes place over Lake Nipissing along the North Bay Waterfront. Flight line and the aerobatics box is identified with large bright markers.
